Your natural break in the L'Érable region!
In 2010, the RCM of the L’Érable obtained the green light from the Ministère des affaires municipales et de l’Habitation (MAMH) to create the parc régional des Grandes-Coulées. As a result, the park was officially recognized under the municipal law governing such matters.
This status allows the RCM the L’Érable, as manager of the park, to develop the recreational and touristic aspects of these magnificent public intra-municipal lands.
The parc régional des Grandes-Coulées is composed of five distinct sectors. Two of these sectors are used for recreational and tourism development: the Grande tourbière de Villeroy and the Forêt ancienne.
Since 2020, the parc régional des Grandes-Coulées has been recognized as an accredited regional park by the Association des Parcs Régionaux du Québec. This recognition testifies to the commitment, quality and safety of the park managers.
The raison d’être of the parc régional des Grandes-Coulées
To develop the notoriety of its outdoor recreational activities and to make its territory accessible and attractive for the population of the RCM de L’Érable and to visitors.
The creation of the parc régional des Grandes-Coulées is based on three main objectives:
- Develop a major tourist attraction within the growing outdoor niche that will promote the L’Érable region and attract thousands of visitors annually.
- Provide the public with access to a natural territory close to home, availing a remarkable quality of life to its region’s citizens, while developing healthy lifestyle habits and encouraging the recruitment and retention of newcomers.
- Ensure the sustainability of a naturally preserved territory and conserve the characteristic elements of the fauna, flora and natural environments, while taking into account the sustainable use of the territory.
